Can you be a bit more specific? What program are you talking about, and what do you mean when you say "put another layer to the original layer," Ill be sure to help after you clarify.

If you are using Photoshop, just press Ctrl + J on your keyboard and it will create a new layer on the top of the original one. But as vvtopkar said, it would be better to be a bit more specific, or at least tell us what program you are talking about.

several possibilities

1. see if your layer isnt locked (locked background layer is always the lowest layer, so you cant get a layer underneath it:
Attached File  background_locked.jpg   11.37K   73 downloads

If so, double click on the layer and just click OK;
you'll get a unlocked layer:
Attached File  unlocked_layer.jpg   9.69K   62 downloads

Now beside from the fact that you can always move layers around, just by click+dragging them up or down, these are the direct ways:

a) with a icon:
Attached File  Clicking_Icon.jpg   20.29K   64 downloads

B) shortcuts:
ctrl+J duplicates the active layer ABOVE (if something on that layer is selected it gets copied on that new layer, which is the main use of this shortcut)

i forgot the other one... :oops:

Last: if you have a locked background layer, with several layers above: shft+ctrl+[ sends a active layer at the bottom of a stack, but above the background layer.

and then when i tried to merge them together "The main layer was in the bottom...it supposed to be on the top!"

sry, cant see the tutorial, when i click on your link it says i am looking for something that isnr there :) , funny though, since apparently he knows WHAT i am looking for.

But anywayz...
dunno what you mean with "main layer", but try to put the main layer on top of the others, select the bottom layer, click the link for the other layers that need to be "flattened", Then choose the "flatten linked" option in the rollout menu, when you click that little triangle on the right.

just selecting the top layer (main layer) and choosing merge down, repeating this for every layer, should work too bdw...
