Well, I want to run Fedora on my PC sometimes, and other times I want to use Windows. Well, I am using the Fedora live CD right now, but I don't want to have to put the CD in every time I want to use Fedora. So, I went and got a partition manager, and created a partition in my harddrive (F:). Now, on my Fedora desktop, there is an icon "Install Fedora to Hard Drive". If I click this icon, will I be able to install Fedora to the F: partition, and still be able to change my boot settings so that my computer can boot to the main partition (C:) with Windows XP on it?
Dual boot?

you'll need to install the different OSs on different partitions. I believe you can choose dual boot under your BIOS settings.

the easiest way is to backup your entire computer so that then you can cleanly split your harddrive into 2 partitions. Then install fedora and have it create an extra partition for you to install windows back onto. I havent done this with fedora before but i did it with ubuntu and it works like a charm.

Easiest way? Backup my entire computer? HAHA! lol, nah, that won't work to much stuff. That is why I want to just install fedora into the partition I just created, but it won't give me that option in Fedora, only the full harddrive.

Dunno about fedora, but i just recently installed Ubuntu on a partition of my hard drive. I formatted the entire drive, partitioned it, installed windows, then ubuntu. That part was easy enough (consdering how many times i messed up, human error, nothing big).
The thing is, ubuntu is apparently not made for Laptops, specifically ones running ati video cards and ipw3945 wireless cards
Don't see why fedora wouldn't give you the option to install on a new partition of the hard drive though. You know to look for something like sda2/hda2, not "F:" right?

I figured this out thanks to the help of a rl friend. I formatted the partition wrong, and didn't create a SWAP partition. Close please.
