My Laptop that I got for Christmas keeps disconnecting from my Wireless Network. It's been something that i've just been putting up with but it's really starting to bug me now. I don't think it's a problem with my Network because my 360 connects to my Network just fine without any disconnecting issues. I assume there's some kind of messed-up setting on my Laptop, or if this is some kind of glitch in Vista.

My Router's the BT Home Hub.

Here's something I noticed, dunno if it's the cause of the problem though:

The Radio Button's on WPA-PSK. But on my Laptop:

This is just a guess though. I haven't fiddled with it incase my Laptop implodes or something.

If your laptop is close to the wireless router are you still having a connection issue?

Sometimes but not as often. But I don't understand why it would disconnect at this distance when neither the Laptop or Router move.

Ask your isp to check your settings, they should do that for free over the phone.

Try change it to WPA encryption instead of the WPA-PSK, you know the drop down menu that asks what WPA-PSK version, what options do you have in there?

  • WPA
  • WPA2
  • WPA+WPA2
is in the drop-down box.

And I clicked on the WPA Radio Button and got this appear, i've got no idea what is is so yeah:

I didn't click on Apply to be on the safe side.

Edit: My Router automatically upgraded itself this morning, and I haven't been having any wireless problems today. According to this site the update has improven the reliability of WPA Encryption.

Your router sucks. Change it!

I know it does but:

a) I'm kind of skint.
b) I don't know where I can find a 'good' Router.
