First I'd like say hello and I'm a newbie here. This is a great site. It was recommended to me the other day. Now I've been dabbing into flash because I find it interesting and really want to learn more. I've been searching for tutorials for 2 days but I have not found what I really need. I would like to create an animated text file.

Okay I need to make a text flash file like the one on this webpage:

National Debt Clearinghouse

If you go to that webpage there is a small flash file with text and that is exactly what I need. I've been searching for tutorials all day and still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

its simple enough really, im assuming that the effect you are going for is the one in the top left of the text scrolling in from the sides.

Well heres what you do. first start off by opening a blank flash document.

Now you will need to adda few layers (you want to have a new layer for each bit of text that scrolls) So lets say we had 3 words "Hello There World" as a test.Each of those words would go on thier own layer. (Add them by using the text tool).


Now what you want to do is move them all to their starting positions. (so some of to the left, some to the right, etc.)

Now the first word will be the one we start on. Right click on the first keyframe on the top alyer and select create motion tween. Now about 10 or so frames down the timeline (furthewr down, the slower the movement) adda new keytframe. On this frame you want to move the text to the center of the stage. (you will see the frames between the two keyframes become a long arrow.

Repeat this process on all the layers to get the text to animate.

in order to delay the other layers, simly select and move all of the frames on their layer along the timeline. then test your movie.
