No, but I almost went for Architecture hehe. :)

But I ended up becoming a Feelance Graphic Designer. :worthy:

Why? Are you an architecture student? If so, that's awesome!

Regards,

- Mark

Yeah what I find enjoying is the technical drawing side of it. Maybe because it's the only type of drawing I'm good at :(

i work as an architecural visualiser. to be honest thats the only reason i went to uni for the time i did, as i wanted a degree and since i was enjoying my job at the time i figured i may as well get a degree in something that would help me pursue a career in 3d.

turns out i was more interested in 3d visualisations than i was in architecture :(

i took drafting in college (in an interior design course), but it was very little CAD at the time, and a whole lot of erasing pencil lines. i hated it! i did, however, enjoy the lighting design class, and considered a future in that. but there was so much drafting - hours of it every day, with hours more homework... i lived at the campus and just couldn't justify doing this for half the day when i didn't even enjoy it.

now, i'm sure i'd feel otherwise, but that was ages ago. if you're an architecture student, you should check out our website. if you're any good (or think you stand a chance against other high school and college students), there could be some great stuff in it for you.

esperant - go here for the architecture challenges:
http://www.studica.c...fm?categoryid=7

here for the design/drafting challenges:
http://www.studica.c...fm?categoryid=2

or here for the overall competition outline:
http://www.studica.c...tition_list.cfm

there are tons (i apologize if some of them repeat in the first two links) that may not only apply to you and your architecture classes, but possibly some of your other interests as well. you can enter as many as you'd like, and there's no entry fee or commitment required. just submit stuff, get votes, go on to the finals, and win nice things.

let me know if you see anything you like! (or if there's anything that could interest your class)

My main issue with achitecture is that its such a long course and most people finish it with a pay check simular to advertising illutrators who've been in the job much longer

err... why is that an issue? its because it is such a specialised field to work in. anyone with flair for design can work as an advertising illustrator and is proficient in photoshop/illustrator etc... but you need a degree to be an architect, its not all sketching pretty buildings, there is alot more to it than that. do you have the same gripe with lawyers and brain surgeons who spend ten years at uni and get paid 10x as much as advertising illustrators or architects with 5 years experience?

AWESOME! let me know when you upload anything - i can't wait to see! lots of luck in the competitions, esperant! (please note, the sooner you upload, the sooner you can start gathering votes, and you also qualify to win the random monthly prizes!)

what software do you use, primarily?
