to get more people interested its always best to think about the content first. the design draws people in but doesnt keep them there, keep the site updated with news and as you said videos.
standardisation is good so i would aim for that... the wcc tool should help pin point errors which is quite easy, its normally a case of having />'s and alt tags that its really fussy about.
the background is spiffy tho but the banner is pretty plain seams a waste really that there is text on top that could easily be typed in (with the photos in the background of the header)
i would check out some tuts on here and make a different banner for sure to encorperate the photos of the bands look alot nicer.
