MAC for the Win no need to look at anything else.

If I were you I would save and spend the money on of the new Mac Pro http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebO.../family/mac_pro

Besides if you plan on working in the design industry this would be a btter way to go as most industries are using Mac in the workplace.

But do not spend the money on the iMac, even tho i thinkit is still great b ut you cannot benefit from its potential like the Mac Pro's. With the mac pros if you decide you can upgrade them with up too 4 Hard drives in the machine. which allows for more storage for all your graphics and large format files. I doubt you ll need tha many but the option is there.

My suggestion is find a Apple Retail store and go check it out.

I don't want to be part of a Mac VS PC thing as I have both and they are both great in their ways.

Personally, if I had to buy a machine, it would have to be a Mac Pro with 2 HD Bays. 1 with Mac OS X and the other with XP :)

But this topic will most probably get closed so try and take the all the advice you can from it while you can dude! :)

As long as we keep this topic clean then it will stay open. Macs and PC's are both good, both have their up sides and down sides. I've never used macs but designers i am friends with all prefer using macs because thats what they are designed to do. In the end it comes down to what you are comfortable to use and what you have been using.

Thats the best advice I can give.

I fully respect Macs, but...
As a video compositor, I know that technology is constantly evolving, so I prefer a Windows desktop, so I can constantly replace parts to make rendering faster, while on a mac I would have to buy a new one every time I wanted a new graphics card etc.

It's your choice, just be aware that when you buy a mac, you are buying proprietary software, which some people don't like.

Hope you make a good choice no matter what you choose ;)

Im just planing on buying one when i raise enough money.

If your a Designer, dont think twice about Mac, no virus, no trouble.

Sorry but this is a totally false argument. Macs are vulnerable to viruses and some apps from Apple (including Safari) have some of the worst security protection.

You should instead look at what each platform is offering in terms of software and hardware capabilities. Just keep in mind that PCs are easier to upgrade and have a much larger variety of software (usually costs less has well).

You should go try some macs at an Apple Store and see what you like best.

And the argument begins ;)

PC. Good. Mac. Good. Linux. Shit.

Lol I mean good :) All have ups and downs, we're done.

Even the mac has it's ups and downs, been on a windows machine for about 10 years before, and only got a virus once or maybe twice, still depends how you use it yourself. Like Matt said try it out and if it works for you buy it, if not buy a PC.

Depends on how you use your mac/pc, if you're gonna go to some inapropriate sites 24/7, maybe get a mac, as a lot of cookie viruses are targeted for pcs, since there are more of them.

Just keep in mind that apple ads tend to be overegsadurated, macs DO get viruses just as easily (maybe even easier) than pcs, they're more vounreble, cuz less people use them.

Lol, sorry for the bad spelling :whoosh[1]:

I bought my MacBook Pro half a year ago and I'm very comfortable with it. For graphicdesign, using Photoshop, ... it is the best thing you can buy I think.

Contra: Without Windows it is not possible to play games like CS, ... So if you want to design and play I think you should choose a PC. Or do it just like S0LDIER. said:

Mac vs PC argument again.. whats the point... o.O

Just go with what ever you are more experianced in or more comfortable using.

I personally use a pc, purely because thats what i know and is what i am most comfortable with, im not slating macs, they maybe brilliant, but i aint used one for long enough to be able to make that judgement.

I was told Mac's get the files but don't open them, but they send them to other Windows systems. I'll try and find the video on YouTube where a man gets a virus on his Mac ;)
