someone sent me a file to edit and the code is locked


is there a way to unlock it or just tell them i cant

You can't lock code unless you use some sort of special encryption program or archive file type (i.e. .zip).

Though, if you are using dreamweaver, you can insert some wierd comments that will disallow editing in dreamweaver. Simple fix, open the file in Notepad and remove the comments...
