Hi P2L!
My boss is interested in buying High School Sports Page. We know the previous owner, not a very good programmer. So my boss wants to buy that and have me recode it as we go. So he wants to buy it, switch it to our host, and run it so it never goes offline, I just recode it over time.
My question to you guys is, what is it originally coded in? The guy that owns it now says he codes it in Oracle, which I know is a database but does it also have its own language? I know with MySql you use PHP to work with it. I have found one page calling a language "WebDB" but I can't seem to find anything else on it. Please take a look at the site and let me know your ideas, thoughts on what it it's language is.
Thanks in advance!
Help! I can't figure out this language

What ever he coded it in, he sucks at image optimization. The part i don't think i need to tell you is that he used photoshop to slice it...
PHP however, does support oracle.
http://php.net/manua.../ref.oracle.php
Possible languages i know of are:
PHP
ASP
Ruby
Python (or perl, maybe both).
C# (not 100% on this, but it's not likely anyway, it's a Microsoft language which would usually run with Access; don't quote me though).
What i'm wondering is, if you're going to redo-it anyway, why does it matter what he coded it in?

Looks like plain HTML to me. It's using tables, which is why it takes so long to load the page. It definitely needs updating!

The funny thing is the guy that owns it right now, paid some guy around $2500 and that's what he got out of it. He edits it now, and argues with me on what should be done to get the HTML to work.
The guy is not using PHP, I know that for sure. I looked over his shoulder while he logged into his computer to make a quick fix and it looked more like Python or Perl because I have never seen the syntax he was using before.
The reason I would like to know is that the guy and my boss are partners in this website. However, my boss is getting upset with how slow it takes to get any updates done so he is buying out the other guys part. So the guy that is running it now is probably going to get upset and add some syntax to build himself a backdoor to mess with us after the transaction. I am sure he can't do it himself, but he owns two other companies and doesn't mind throwing money around. So he might "hire" someone to do something. I just want to get to know the original syntax because we are going to upload it to our host as-is and I will be changing it over time.
Jacorre:
All of the other languages (PHP, ASP, etc) look like plain HTML if you look at the source code. Another reason it is taking so long to load is he is hosting it out of his house (reason the port is open) and he doesn't have a strong enough internet connection to host. He is one of those older men, you know, stubborn.
Thanks guys for both of your feedback, I will start looking into Python and Perl because I am 85% sure that is what he is using.
