Here's the deal. I'm working on a "banner" for a website and wanted to use an animated earth in the "banner". However when I "save optimized as" or when I preview in browser (either firefox or ie) it is not as I designed it.

Here is what it SHOULD look like

Here is what it DOES look like

Can anyone tell me what the devil is going on? Oh, the earth DOES spin .... I just can't get the color to show up and I can't figure out why.

Thanks for the help!

Check to make sure your using RGB colours and web colours etc, also I wouldn't recommend using an animated gif for a banner that size, why not try your hand at flash? You'll get a much cleaner effect.

Actually when in ImageReady, when you click on "Save Optimized As" I don't receive an option to mess with quality settings.
However if I "Save For Web" in Photoshop I get the options to mess with the quality settings and I had to change a few settings to get it to work right.

I changed the Color Reduction Algorithm to Perpetual and changed the Colors to 256 and now it works as I wanted it to.

It looks like this now

Thanks .... I haven't had enough practice with Flash ... almost none in fact!

I am not sure how comfortable you are with image ready so if you already know this just ignore me. If you look at your image in Image ready you will see 2 up and 4 up. You can click on the 4 up and see four options for optimizing. Then you can play with your optimization settings by going to your optimize palette. If you don't see it go to window then make sure optimize is checked. There you can play with the color settings and also if you mess with the lossy or the diffusion it will make a difference with how it saves. I am not sure if this was what you were looking for.
