Jon, really appreciate your pointers they are helpful in many ways!
Logo has been changed, the logo that was in place was for the old look of the site, with a white background, looked really awesome but I had been working on multiple projects so never got around to changing the logo, have done a temporary job for now, will update it again soon.
Basically the navigation bar of the site will take some time to work on but yes, you are right there should be a 'click me' vibe to it and I will come up with something soon enough

Pixel2life has done a great job of doing that its in clear site plus the avatars used are brilliant, colorful and very attractive. I intend to give more time to the website in a couple of weeks when I'm done with this other project and given this one exam I have to.
I will be adding hover effects to the left menu that displays the categories later today, am going to keep the grey/white to the buttons displaying the categories but, was thinking of making a button for all the headings, i.e: tutorials, categories, announcements, and making them have a glassy effect use good colours in them, they'll make the site look brighter more inviting.
The search box has been added

was thinking of doing so myself. Also made a few changes to the tutorial bits. The stars are long gone, hated them anyway was going to change that too! Other than that, have also made adjustments to the footer.
You will have to elaborate a bit on this part, I really didnt get what you were trying to say.. sorry:
The actual tutorial section bits need improving as well, they just look depressing, even with the use of the lovely FAM FAM Ico ns (which you need to add some padding to the left hand side of the tick to push it over a bit) they still don't stand out. Instead of the icon for the section, instead a small screenshot of the outcome of the tutorial so it doesn't look the same.
And about the text color on hover in the footer, well it works for now but i'll see if i can come up with some good combination with black
Again Jon, thank you so much for your pointers!
