My father wants me to create his band's logo to mirror that of The Monkees logo (Click here for the Monkees Logo)

I have searched google and every photoshop website for tips on creating this logo.
So basically, I need to know how to morph text into a custom shape.
I'm trying to go for the fender stratocaster guitar shape (Here's the guitar)

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

i suppose in Illustrator, you create the shapes and then convert text to outlines and then start tweaking, but its tedious work.

Try my tutorial on distorting text in Illustrator. It might help you get started.
