I'm making a V2 of my tutorial website (noobic.com) and I had done a fair bit when a friend said that the template was a bit average. I have done another template in photoshop and I need your opinion on which is best.

The first one is what the actual site looks like in IE7 (yes I know there are flash logos for the php tuts ) Here it is:

i gess teh 2nd but, yikes! its all relative

you need about 30 less beveled edges and gradients in the second one before it is good design

I like the 2nd one, there's more visual appeal to it.

I would have to say the 2nd one is the best of the two. The 2nd one however could still use some work. What I found to be rather helpful and maybe you wont. But, to close out of the program and go do something else. Maybe take a walk or watch tv something totally different. Then come back and hour or two later. This is a great way for your mind / body to reset itself. I hope it helps you.

If im just being honest, I'd say neither... None are really good designs imo...

If i had to choose, I'd say the second one if you get rid of the outer glow and bevel etc. But it still needs a lot of work after that aswell!

to be honest i've always been bad at designing templates so i'm not really suprised at your comments

do you have any tips on how i can get good?
