Ok I have my own host with 10gb bandwidth limit. Now my co-designer said I'd waste a lot less bandwidth if I would use a free image host for the images (like photobucket), and I did this for my 2 latest tutorials. Well, I submitted those tutorials to some tutorial listings (one of them being p2l), and if they get accepted, I'll get a lot of bandwidth. Now, my question is:

Can I use a free image host until the bandwidth limit is exceeded and then host the images on my own server?

Or do I just have to host them on my own server from the start?

Just wondering if it's allowed (if not, I'll just host them on my own server)

Thanks :P

you may want to compress the images as much as you can and host them yourself (free image hosts die too), if the tuts are good people will swarm on them, most you would use in a month would be around 2-3gb's.

10gb's of bw a month is not a lot, ask your host to up your limit paying a few extra dollars is always worth the non worry of your site exceeding its allocated amount and going down anyways.

first of all, thanks for the explanation!

I saw the topic, that's why I asked :P So You think I should host them myself? Will my tutorials get accepted if I don't host the images immediately on my own server?

about the gb limit, I think it's 5$ per gb. I can still go with 10 for a while though :P

$5 a GB think your being ripped off a little there.

submit them as you have them but I suggest you have backup images on your domain incase the image host dies, simply change the url's on the images.
