In the past FF has been more secure than IE. But is this still true of FF2 and and IE7? Or has IE security been improved to the point where it doesn't matter which browser I use?

FF3 is the most secure right now. But if you compare FF2 to IE7, they are mostly the same in terms of security if you updated both.

FF2 vs IE7 is no longer relevant with FF3 out. I love FF3 btw.

It doesn't matter for me which one is more secure.

Well, Once I installed IE 7 and started to use IE 7 instead of IE6 but I was getting too much problem with IE 7. So I decided to try Firefox and till date I'm using firefox.

Now, I'm habited to use Firefox. I just have started to use Firefox 3 and it's quite good as compare to Firefox 2.

Well I go against the mainstream, using Maxthon browser  But lately I have been started to use FF3 more and more, so I think maxthon looses it's position...

But is FF more secure... I think that FF3 ise more secure than IE7.... As FF3 is a later realease. Let's see although what happens if IE 8 is launched...:)

They all have bugs. Has no one paid any attention to firefox's great patch releases? sometimes its a patch to fix a patch. That doesnt seem very secure.

IE just has more holes found in it because it is the main browser, and the majority of people running it (Im talking about IE 6 here) are less technical, so a well placed virus is worth more.

It doesnt mean that firefox is more secure.

There`s nothing wrong with any browser providing you keep it updated.

Maybe because that's not considered a secure browser? No matter why Paypal suggested to avoid this browser while using their website...

I've been using IE since v4 (was a netscape user before then) and I've never had a security issue on any of my PCs. Keep a proper firewall and virus scanner up and running and run your malware scans and you can run any browser. Whenever I see someone's PC that is all messed up, it's because they're virus software was not updated or otherwise disabled, or they had no malware scanning schedule.

FF is still more secure than IE, always has and always will at this rate, but you can easily run IE with common sense, especially with IE7. And the fact that they released a study saying FF users are more secure doesnt mean it's because they use FF at all. More saavy PC users tend to use FF, and those same people are more likely to run a proper virus scanner, firewall etc...

My 2.467 cents.

I have never run an anti-virus before. I only keep Spybot and Ad-aware handy. I have never gotten a virus either.
