Hard to make my problem specific enough to fit into the Topic.

Long story short, I have some HTML/PHP skills, and less than sub-par CSS skills. And I'm completely at a loss for how to design my game review website. I know what I want on the website, and I know I want it to be primarily light. But anything I try to make ends up looking... well, let's just say I'd rather not publish it to the web.

Can anyone offer up any kind of help? Not necessarily a fully created template, as I can't really pay at all (if you're looking for money), but at the very least, some kind of design idea, or tips.

It might also help to know the basic framework I'm trying to work with...

Something light, simple, clean, and somewhat professional is what I'm aiming for here. Header at the top (Logo, links, etc), then the actual body of the website would be dependant on the page. Also, I want to have some kind of side bar that says what the full time writers are currently doing.
As far as links are concerned, at the top, there's "Main Page", "Reviews", "Previews", and "Resources". In Reviews, I want some kind of link for each of the main systems (Sony/Playstation, Xbox/Microsoft, Nintendo, and PC, as well as Other for things like Dreamcast).

Beyond that, I leave creativity up to you guys... God knows I've been thinking way too hard about it these last few days...

What colors do you like, or would you like to see on your site. What kind of games are you gearing towards.

You can always download free for use templates, just google free website templates. You'll find plently that are geared towards games.

If you don't have a good grasp on designing sites you can always start with a template and use that to get your site started and work towards something of your own design later.

Believe it or not, I got fed up with putting things off, and went with drupal in the end...

Still, I like your design. One problem I have with it, though, is that everything seems too... bubbled.
