What happened here?! From my old days, i remember this forum used to be VERY active and there used to be at least 5 new tuts on the main page, everyday! Now i notice, there seem to be fewer people, longer responses on the forum, and not a single new tut on the main page since yesterday! I am really disappointed, i used to enjoy this place a lot, now when i come back after a long time, i see this almost dead forum! What is this? I remember lots of new posts, plenty of activity, but now, hardly anything! Do my eyes need glasses, and is it just me whos noticing this?

Edit: I may only be a Young Padawan, but seriously i knew what was going on here and i used to love this place!

Are there any reasons for this decrease in forum activity? Hello Admins and long time users?

Hmmm, that makes sense, Donna. Actually, yeah, even i spend much more time on my social networking sites like Digg, than on forums. Damn those sites, they really bring down the productivity of forums, and instead increase the productivity of links to mostly stupid sites. Forums generate a lot more creativity and productivity than social bookmarking sites. *Sigh*. There goes the world these days, getting stupider and stupider. That includes me.

But you members can make it busy again, I used to post a lot but also have been busy with other stuff. Find a good topic and post they'll reply. Most of the Staff are in school with study and whatever or working.

Agree, but looks like those sites are here to stay until web 4.0 comes

But now with sites like Yahoo Answers you can. Anyway, i just did a little research and i found out this is a growing problem. Forums around the net are declining in activity. Forum owners are starting to get desperate. *sigggghhhhh*. Whats happening to the internet these days. More stupidity and so called "fun" rather than serious productivity. The internet is turning into a jokebox or something. Good things which are actually useful in real life like forums and stuff are on the decline.

Edit: What is web 4.0 ? I never heard that before?

Edit 2: http://www.alistapar...cles/web3point0 Check that out. Maybe we can bring forums back to life again.

Yup. I can hardly find forums that help me with questions I have that dont take like a day or two to reply. And of course the forums that are active make it stupid and make all your posts moderated until you have like 50+ posts(aka asp.net) and ya its annoying

Im making a group of talk sites (forums) at the moment such as www.talkfootball.co.uk I feel there are too many crap forums and people just give up looking for gd ones. The social networking sites such as facebook will die out eventually like myspace is. Just keep faith I say!

Well I said that lol, it's been happening for months.

Yahoo Answers is great if they give the correct answer.

We're being overloaded in information now I dunno how to say it but seems like yesterday the web was just a PC now it's everything re: cellphones, Wii's etc you can almost access from anywhere and people want it to be quick.

-----

l3lueMage moderation is probaly to weed out the real members from spammers, you can't blame site owners for that. And you have to keep in mind the help is free unless it's a paid help site.

------

brave-art,
facebook is booming, more and more companies are advertising on there daily same with myspace. They'll be around for a long long time. Facebook is the 7th most popular site on the web, myspace is 6th, that should tell you.

I agree facebook will be around for a long long time but to be fair to facebook all it is is a giant forum!
forums within groups your personal page everywhere. It is a shame because specified forums like this one dont get as much traffic.

Maybe need to advertise it more to Illustrators and designers somehow?

Forums need to be fast, fun, user friendly and innovative for people to switch from social bookmarking sites to forums. Some big innovation is whats needed in the forum industry to bring it back to life. Whoever makes that breakthrough innovation is gonna be the next billionaire. Thats what i think. Anyone else?

Can anyone think of a really good innovation in the forum industry which would really bring things back?

Well they can if they make a great application, lots of places on there deal in graphics and design that I've seen. Everything is on there from buying a car to a house that's probably why it's so popular because everything is in one place.

ads pay server costs, without them majority of big sites wouldn't be able to survive.

Thats true facebook get every1 else to build thier apps for them for free. innovation is free putting it together costs money yes. On my new forums ive teamed up with youtube and am incorparating videos into forum post so that news teams can show latest news in video form aswell as image.

I do not agree that facebook have any good design apps or any gd groups that know what they are talking about.
That is why I come to sites like these and hopefully meet people that do know what they are doing.
One thing I stick by is that people will and do get bored with places like facebook. Especially people who dont want all thier personal information plastered all over the web.
