Alright so I'm redesigning my portfolio and I've been working at it for a week. I've been in a bit of a design rut but I finally feel like I've got something.

The problem is - I feel like the site is too "themed" to properly showcase my work. Like I fear that the textures are going to make gif transparency impossible and png transparency to heavy sizewise. I also feel I will have trouble making regular serif text fitting in.

Do you understand what I mean? I don't see how I can keep the faux-grunge theme when adding things like text and my other portfolio items which sort of clash with it. Does that make sense?




Basically, it'd be nice if youd look at the design, let me know about colors and all that, and then maybe give a couple ideas on how to display my text and images without it looking odd and completely clashing. I'm at a loss. I feel like I have "something" with potential but am not sure how to quite finish it off. Maybe I should drop the paper/parchment texture?

I think you should be fine. The content text will float on top of the background. As long as you choose a color that's nice on the eyes and you can read it, you should be fine. The best thing you can do is experiment and play with the design and add content. You'll get a better idea at that point on what direction to take it.

i think if you displayed your pictures like this: Grungy maybe change the colours to match and put like a pin or something at the top of each one it would look pretty kool.. just an idea.
