Dear Pixel2Life administrators,

I remember reading an update many months ago saying that signature tutorials were no longer approved. This was during the time when every website had about a hundred "grunge signature with tech borders" tutorials. times have changed in signature design as well however, and signature design has taken a new direction, you can find pieces of art in these small images made by some of the best designers.

to name a few examples (credits to MerDeNom and Neuron)

i have a website featuring mainly signature tutorials and i feel like some of the signatures shown there definitely have something people could learn from. i would like to submit these tutorials to sites like pixel2life, however i would feel my time wasted if an administrator pressed the "DECLINED" button immediatly upon reading the title of these tutorials.

is this still the case or will signature tutorials now be considered?

Times haven't changed that much in regards to sigs.

Dan is the only one that can say if they get accepted and he cannot really tell you in advance so just submit them and be patient like everyone else  but keep in mind http://www.pixel2lif...?showtopic=8461 is still used it just needs updating with more added.

honestly how can you say that, are you basing your opinion on whatever gets submitted here or are you actually talking to experienced designers and looking at communities following the trends?

the generic "brush here, render on luminosity, scanlines, border, text" tutorial (i.e. http://www.pixel2life.com/tutorials/count/..._tag_tutorial/) is way behind the newer types of signatures, people actually put effort into their work now.

look at some of the signatures i mentionned in my first post, if the canvas on those signatures were say, 150 pixels higher and 150 pixels wider, it would probably be accepted because it could be tagged with a different name (i.e. wallpaper, large art, whatever you like to call it).

going to submit some and see what happens. the reason i didnt just submit them in the first place is because it seems the time it takes to get approved/declined has greatly increased compared to a year ago, though im not sure if i saw like 20 pages of Pending back then.

My opinion is what I see all over the web, anyways not going to get into an argument with you on experienced designers and sig trends so I'll close this to stop a general discussion, if Dan has more to add he'll re-open this.

The pending list has grown as there's a lot more categories these days but the wait time is generally the same, if you add your email you'll receive a reply K

Hey guys,

OK, for sigs and the other stuff listed on the "These will probably be declined because we get this 100 times a day", the same rule applies in the sense that you are more than welcome to submit them, but they will likely be declined. Now, if I see a sig tutorial that is NOT the same old same old, then it will get accepted... if you mosey on over to the sig sub category for Photoshop, you'll see new tutorials in there as new as last week.

So yes, your tutorial would be accepted if they are unique to my eyes (I review them), but if it seems to be a rehash of the usual stuff, then they would get accepted.

And with all due respect, if you're going to ask me if I talk to "experienced designers" and "trend setters", I do on a daily basis, and honestly none of them really make forum sigs any more. Most of the time, making signatures is sort of a phase or a style you get in to as you progress in your design skills. As you become more advanced, you tend to take on larger complex projects and rarely go back to the small stuff you used to do aside from maybe once in a blue moon for yourself. I used to make sigs all the time and loved it... that was about 10 years ago. I think I've made like 5 since lol!

As for the queue times, it varies but lately I have been very busy with other projects and the submissions are VERY heavy so it's tough to keep up. I think I'm about 12 days back at the moment and would like to be at 5 - 7.

Thanks and hope that answers your questions

Dan
