Bird is the word but you should have made the background to work for you... At this moment these photos look like random close-ups of a some figurine of a bird

I think the first one needs a slight crop from the left hand side, and I agree with xXx-Treme, however the Black and White suits it very well, and the lighting on the second is pretty good. Keep trying.
