Hi,

I've just upgraded PS from version 7 to CS4 Extended. Previously in PS7 if I created a layer mask lets say a curves mask I could select the mask and edit it with any of the editing tools. That is to say I could use the erasor tool on any opacitiy and remove bits of the layer mask as i saw fit. So if I wanted to just make certain parts of the image darker I could create a curves layer mask, reduce the brightness, then delete the layer mask as appropiate.

However the erasor tool etc doesnt seem to work with CS4. Could someone let me know if this is possible under the new program.

Many thanks for any help in advance.

I have CS3, but I do know that when a layer mask is selected you can use the paintbrush tool in white or black to erase or draw in effects.

Let's say that your mask has a white background (which it usually does), select your brush and change the color to black and draw on the layer to erase certain parts.
