Well I'm not too sure about C4D but it should be the same as maya. In maya all you need to do for chrome is use a preset mental ray material and make it into chrome then have a HDRI based lighting to get you all the reflectivities of chrome. The HDRI lighting is a very important step or else your chrome material will have nothign to reflect off and it will look all wrong in your render.

As for the chrome material I think all you need is a blinn and make the diffuse to black and reflectivity to white. But to be safe just search quick online chrome material and people will give you the real settings easily.

If you want a bit more detail on this don't be shy to ask

For C4D it would be very simple, you just have to look at it in the right way. Do a Text object and extrude it as you would do for any 3d lettering. Make a chrome texture or download one, there tons of them free all over the net, and apply it to your words. Now just duplicate your extruded text layer, shrink the depth way down to almost flat, then texture this one with a red material. Duplicate this layer and then move one red layer to the front and one to the back. Group them all together then you can apply a deformer to bend them all in unison.

ftm i am very very short in time,
but i'll see what i can do when i get home,
i'll try to put a sample scene up, so you can watch the setup:
chrome (and any material for that matter) is only good, with the use of the right environment and lighting.
