new to the program. in need of help.

I have a scene with 2000fps on the track bar. I have a camera animating around an object more like a walk through, when i render the scene of the animation it takes forever like 4/5 hrs sometime more. Is there a quicker way? I'm i missing some key link/info. Please help. Thank you.

P.S. Still in love with the program.

Ok well first I need you to specify a couple more things. Like what program are you using? Theirs a bunch of 3D programs and they are all different. Also what is taking 4/5hrs ? rendering one frame or rendering the hole thing? or playblasting?

uhh i dont know 3ds all that well but i do know c4d and i would never render anything at two thousands frames per second.. thats prolly why its taking so long to render and only lasting a second.. try rendering at 35fps

ok well yeah if you have it set to run at 2000 frames per second then you should change that to like 24 - 29.9 frames per second. Also if you are rendering 2,000 frames then yes 4 hours is actually pretty normal. That's actually a very good render time to be honest. some of my renders take like 5-20 minutes just for 1 frame. It all depends on alot of things your render time. Like your image size. If your rendering out at 720 HD then it will take a lot longer then 640 by 480. Also it depends on what features your using to render like if your using MentalRay or V-ray and if your using final gather or global Illumination. Also rendering is based on how much geomitry is interacting with eachother like with shadows and lights and reflections.

Could you send one frame of what your rendering?

But yeah like I said if it's only taking 4 hours to render the full 2,000 frame and it looks good then count yourself lucky. Also, in your compositing program you can change the frames per second in there so that when you render and compress your video it should run at teh proper speed.

thanx, i just new to this software and i'm learning it as i go. The scene i have is 2000 fps, i render it at 30 fps. I have the rendering as a Mental Ray format. I have an object with global illumination and one object that have a lens effect <using glow effect. Every frame render, it gives me an error saying its not compatible with the mental ray format.

Suks that I just lost the files, likes it corrupted, i can't even open the files. I'll have to start all over, but if there an email address i love to send u the files and c if u can help me out. Thanks alot again for the advice. Appreciated it.

Yeah the whole "2000 fps" thing is probably your problem. Nothing I've ever worked with (3d, video) has been at that frame rate. Perhaps it's something different than 'fps' which stands for frames per second. If indeed you are running at 2000 fps then they are right, it's moving so fast you will only see the beginning and ending frames when played back. If you want slow motion as you stated, you need to slow your fps down or create more frames (which in a 3d program you will basically stretch your keyframes way out).
