Goodbye Windows Vista means goodbye crashes, bugs, incompatible software and hardware, etc... With the final version of Windows 7 finally out, I couldn't miss the occasion to see who else upgraded?

I still don't know why anybody has a problem with vista (almost 3 years now and the only problem i've had is bad registry maintence, i.e. it "forgets" things)... But that doesn't mean i won't be upgrading this winter  I have a strict policy of not doing anything potentially life threatening to my computer while school is in session.

I've been using the RC on my desktop for a while now, i'll probably buy the release version once I decide to upgrade my comp. I may upgrade my vista laptop to it though, apparently I can get windows 7 for $30 through my university

1. Peripherals are integrated in a smoother manner (and they actually work!)
2. Very much improved UAC
3. Brand new taskbar
4. Super fast performance

Actually installed last night. All very painless and I'm impressed with some things so far. Seems pleasant enough to use.

Got it for £30 via the University.

It's a very fast OS, one thing I love is it doesn't have all that bloated junk they normally put in the OS. Only thing I dislike in windows 7 is they removed Windows Mail. I got a new PC when Vista came out, first week I had 2 blue screens lol I hadn't seen a blue screen since windows ME, I didn't mind Vista but you had to do a lot of configuring to get it to do what you wanted and it was a slow OS and it never liked a lot of old software but with windows 7 it's the opposite. But like all things its the users choice.

Has been hearing a lot about it. When it was launched in my country, I went looking for it all over the internet. Seems like I will have to wait a bit before I can get my hands on it.

Being a student ftw, only £35 - so yeah when I next have £35 lieing around this will be something I consider, XP is getting kinda boring now.

My decent gaming computer I got came with Vista Ultimate, and I had some strange problems with especially graphics, and some games wouldn't run well that should have since I had very close the recommended specifications. I got Windows 7 for the student price, and have had absolutely no problems at all. Vista had some odd quirks, but nothing as bad as most people say it is.

Two odd examples of my graphics differences with Vista to 7. Keep in mind the only change was I did a clean install of 7 on the exact same hardware, same latest drivers and DirectX.

My girlfriend plays The Sims 2 alot, and whenever it snowed heavy on Vista Ultimate, all the ground textures would flash purple, indicating bad textures or something graphics. Now on 7, it runs absolutely fine...

I tried the Batman Arkham Asylum (AWESOME game btw) demo on Vista, and I couldn't even run the menu in lowest detail. Now on 7, I can run the full game on very high with not a single slow-down...

I've definitely noticed a speed improvement, I'd even say from XP (which I still like as well for my other computers). I love the taskbar, and really there wasn't much I had to configure to get the whole OS to run exactly how I want it; Vista I spent like a half hour tinkering with some things. Also the virtual XP mode is kinda cool... Oh, and you can place gadgets anywhere on the desktop instead of just pinned to one side of the screen.

Another neat feature I've read about (but not had to experience) is apparently if Windows denies you from deleting or doing something with a file because of it being 'used by another process', it apparently tells you what process (!!!! :) :) :))

Not had a single problem with my Windows 7 for over a month. :)

I pretty much agree with this poster re: Win XP. I do have Win Vista on a laptop, but that's only because it came with the laptop. Although I have experienced hardly any problems with Vista for the year and a half that I've had it. Waiting for them to get all the bugs out (with service pack updates and such) for a year after they first introduced it, I think, may have had something to do with my pleasant experience with it thus far.

I won't be upgrading that laptop to Win 7 because why fix something that isn't broken. As long as it allows me to do what I need to do, I see no reason.

Of course, if I should buy another computer in the future, I'll use whatever OS it comes with. At the rate that hardware is making advances and now the software is finally beginning to catch up, it only seem logical to stick with an OS that is able to run on the hardware I have.
