Not intentionally meaning to turn this in to a 'post your internet speed thread' but I just have to post how impressed I am with my University's connection...I realised it was speedy but never bothered testing it until just now...lunchtime isnt exactly what I'd consider 'off-peak' either.

If they didn't want me to download films why tempt me so. Ha.

For me to test I have to use a place in another Province 10 hrs away lol so i don't think the results are very accurate., usually takes just less than 10mins to download 700mb where as that used to take over a week in Australia lol

My download was 44.81 going by the area they chose for me but up was only 0.75 :)

a long time ago lol but the thing I despised most was every 4hrs on dialup I had to reconnect.
Canada's speeds I read somewhere the other day are not upto par with other countries, have to refind the article.

What are you talking about, Cable is faster than DSL. DSL still goes through the phone line!! If you get DSL often times if someone calls you on the phone you get disconnected if they give you a crappy modem and stuff...

FiOS ftw

The DSL in my area is actually pretty good. I had it before i moved, and then switched to cable for the "bundle deal." The up-stream was a lot better. Next time i move i might look into other solutions.

I've actually had that a couple of years back with Tiscali (UK), it did seem every so often that when someone used the landline the internet disconnect. But then the company are primarily comprised of decaying squirrels and the occasional outrageous customer service rep.

We actually have Vodafone Home Broadband at home now (it's a good price as I have a separate contract with them)...it's fairly nifty.

Donna, this was just last year, with AT&T DSL. I called tech support, had people come out, they kept saying we dont know we dont know, eventually they just said "Its how it works" so I switched services.

I don't pay for my internet anymore because I have been with virgin media for almost 16 years, so we just pay phone and tv and internet is thrown in for free <3
