My question is - do companies view freelance designers as cheap forms of labor to get their print / web work done as opposed to hiring a firm to complete it?

Do web design companies typically get paid more?

What are the views for business owners of a freelancer and a full-blown business?

Any experience or thoughts would be great !

Anyone?

Don't double post, especially if it's only been 4 hours since your original post.

I don't have any statistical data for you. But these are my opinions:

Companies:
- Get paid more, but have more employees to pay
- Will most likely rush the job to get paid and then move on

Freelancers:
- Likely to give you a more personal experience
- Also more likely to sit down and work with you to figure out what you want in your site

How does a web design company not sit down with the customer? This is highly wrong.

Any other thoughts?

Could just be a misguided belief about large companies. Thats why it's just my opinion. I've only ever been a freelance myself, i've never had to deal with a company before.
