No offence, but I don't particularly like either. They're a bit bland and boring.

I'm afraid I have to agree with adam123, they are a bit bland, try adding something to act as a focal point.

agreed.
but first layout wont work with the gradients in the content. 2nd one looks much better tho.

yea, 1st 1 is definetly bland, but the 2nd isnt too bad
