I am trying to upload a new skin onto my IPB v2.0. I know that you have to go to the CP and then upload the ipb_skin.xml {or something like that}. I was guessing that that file comes with the skin i dowloaded but i cant seem to find it. So i though that there was a flaw in the skin so i dowloaded some others and i still cant seem to find any ipb_skin.xml file.

Can someone please help it would be greatly appriecated

Thank, Unclassifed

Firstly unzip the Skin Pack zip into a new directory on your computer,
it will contain several files, including 2 further zip files,
named: ipb_skin-skinname.xmlgz and ipb_images-skinname.xmlgz ***these should NOT be opened*** once you have your skin pack opened you are ready to install:

Login to your forums AdminCP.

Expand the "Skins & Templates" box in the left menu.

Click on "Skin Import/Export".

Scroll down to the "Import Skin Templates" section.
Tip: This is a sub-section of the "Importing..." section and is near the bottom of the page.

Click the "Browse..." button next too "Upload XML Template set".

Browse your computer to the folder you unzipped the skin too earlier.

Select the file which has a file name beginning with "ipb_skin-skinname".

Ignore the "OR enter the filename of the XML Template Set" and the "New Skin Set Name?" fields.
Tip: You can enter what you would like to call the skin into the "New Skin Set Name?" field if you do not want to use the default name of the skin. For example you could enter "Silver Paying Members Skin" if the skin you were uploading was a silver skin that was for paying forum members only. I highly reccomend setting to this something that means something to you and is relevant to the skin.

Click the "IMPORT SKIN XML" button once.
Tip: As this is uploading the file from you computer this may take some time, depending on your Internet upload speed.

Scroll down to the "Import Skin Images" section.
Tip: This is a sub-section of the "Importing..." section and is near the bottom of the page.

Click the "Browse..." button next too "Upload XMLarchive Image set".

Browse your computer to the folder you unzipped the skin too earlier.

Select the file which has a file name beginning with "ipb_images-".

Ignore the "OR enter the filename of the XMLarchive Image Set" and the "New Image Set Directory Name?" fields.
Tip: You can enter what you would like to call the image set directory into the "New Image Set Directory Name?" field if you do not want to use the default image set directory of the skin. I highly reccomend setting to this something that means something to you and is relevant to the skin.

Click the "IMPORT SKIN IMAGES" button once.
Tip: As this is uploading the file from you computer this may take some time, depending on your Internet upload speed.

Click on "Skin Manager" under the "Skins & Templates" section in the left hand menu.

Click once on the name of the imported skin so that the sub-menu appears.

Choose "Edit Settings..." from the sub-menu.

You are able to edit the options of the skin in this section. For example you are able to specify whether it is the default skin and whether it is viewable by members.

Make sure that the "Use image directory?" option under "Image Options" is set to the correct image directory.

Click the "Edit Skin Settings" button.

You should now be able to choose the newly installed skin from the skin chooser at the bottom left of your forums.

You may encounter an error message asking you to CHMOD a directory, if so then carefully read which directory it is asking you to CHMOD, and once you have done so, repeat the step at which the install stopped.

Done
