i know this is a bit of a longshot seeing as this isnt a spyware forum, but im killing myself over here...

i keep getting these popups in ie that take me to random pages at random intervals. asking me something about more carrott less cake, and other ones asking for me to scan my system etc.

ive tried the usual - hijackthis, S&D, adaware, online scans, google, spyware forums. i cannot find anything ANYWHERE about this though.

i think it originated from a screensaver file or something like that(forgot the extension, you know the sort though...) my dad opened from an email (yes he is a computer illiterate old fogey).

if anyone has come across this before or knows where i could find some help on it, could you please let me know cus it also seems to have messed around with the home network leaving me without my beloved max, cad and photoshop, and i know you wouldnt wish that upon anyone would you! :D

thanks.

Stu.

Have a peek inside where you add & remove programs as it could also be in there.

Or click one of those popups see where it takes you, there should be a page to unistall them.

The latest adaware should also remove them it was updated a few dys ago.

If all else fails use FIREFOX :D

no such luck in the add/remove programs, ive tried using words/phrases/links from the popups on google and nothing comes up :D

ill give adaware another go and see if that does the trick.

no can do with firefox, ive told my sister over and over that ie is pants but she just doesnt listen, i think its 'cus shes older and knows it all :D
plus i think its the spyware that could be interferring with my lan connection since it only started when the popups did. and my brother removed it the other day but it managed to come back, weve retraced his steps but no luck there either, hmm...

anyways thanks for the quick reply, if any one else has any ideas...

I used that for 2days and removed it, I don't get spyware or popups so had no use for it, but that proggie installed something that slowed my PC down.

Just download Firefox and delete the start menu icon and desktop icon. I did and my dad don't know a thing...
