its free and you pay if u wanna get rid of ads.
i only find an advantage of having your own account and being able to show off your works and whatnot. but its just too big a community for my likings.

It's awesome, dont' get me wrong. I get like 99% of my brushes from them, but I dunno, I think I need to work a little more on my photoshop before I join.

thats the thing, the size, its a whole different experience than here at P2L, there are tens of thousands of members adn to actually be recognized is harder than here at p2l, you also have a much wider range of talent, from professional artist who do it for a living, to professional artists who do it as a hobby (;)) to the n00bs just getting into it...overall its a great thing if you like that kind of community...it is one of the (if not THE) best art community on the net...

If you're gonna join deviantART to make sigs, its not really worth the time

dA is an art website, and though Sigs are accepted in many places as forms of art (and they are) they are supposed to be simple displays of talent and identification, plus, the incredible amount of space that image sigs would take up on dA would be completely unrealistic....

To become well known in deviantart you must sacrifice many hours of your time into it. You must create stunning images in photoshop that take hours to master. You must make phenomenal renders that take more that 7 hours a piece to render. You must make your work so brilliant, the viewers are in awe just by taking a glance at it.

If you think you have what it takes, and have the time required, then yes go join, get your work known, and maybe someone will hire you for graphic designing.

I personally like the community and everything they have to offer. I just dont find it worthwhile to join.

dude..... how long it takes to render gives absolutaly no garantee to the quality... a fool can make something take 7 hours to render...... it can still look crap,
hell... by your logic. a 2 day rendered object would be the most incredible thing you have ever seen :)
sorry to rant. but it just seems ignorant to place how good an object is by its render time... dont take it to seriously... just remember in the future.. it does not matter how long the render is :D

i look through deviant art allot... never bothered to sign up because i prefer other places , like here :) .
it is good to look through tho :D
