Real looking textures

How can i put on textures, lets say on a gun, that when i render it, it looks real and not a dark grey?

I think you should render as raster instead of vector.

open photoshop and make something 1000x1000 with a black background and just add random dark grey strokes all over it so it looks dirty and add some rust then just stick it on.
