So what your saying is when you 'render to picture veiwer' you see nothing but black? No render?
Also, you say you want to add color: you mean to your material for your render or change the black in the Background?

I can whip-up a tut if you would like, try to give me a detailed explanation...but before you do, answer there Qs:
Do you have a render made thats ready?
Do you have material added to the render?
Try rendering in a different window (IE: Just hit Ctrl+R in C4d to render in your current window, and see if it is any different from the picture veiwer)

Sorry, i dont do animation in c4d (might learn thought)
but i can help you on the import to ps7 (If i understand you correctly):
Basicly do this:
Open or make the render you want in Ps7.
Go Render > Render settings.
Now, go to the "save" option to the left.
Set to these settings:
Next, go to the "output" option to the left - and set it to whatever resolution you want. ( do 1023x726 for wallpapers, and around 728x578 for sigs (and resize in Ps7).
Once thats done, go render > render to picture veiwer. Once the render is complete go File > Save picture as (in picture veiwer) and save as TARGA. Then, open in ps7 and there ya go! If you want a black BG...make a new layer and fill it with black and put it under the render.
