Hey guys, I am pretty stuck. I am trying to create a shadow on a rectangle/blending effect much like the one seen on the left and right hand sides of the rectangle seen here. I have been spent countless amounts of time looking over the internet for tutorials on this subject, and countless hours trying to get it working in photoshop. I have tried using lines, rectangles and the various blending effects with no success. The trouble is that I cannot get the same effect on both sides (simultaneously)/in succession. Another problem is that I just can't make it look as good even in attempting to create such an effect for just one side. Once I (hopefully) create this effect, I don't know how to insert it into my page using css to make it appear properl, as it does in the supplied example (URL).
If anyone is able to help meout with this problem, please submit a reply. Thank you for your time, Shaun.

The page you have given uses a background image (http://www.visionofb...shadow_back.gif) that repeats and creates the shadow effect

I think what he means is the effect in photoshop itslef:
MAke a rectangle, and apply the OUTER GLOW filter to it. Set the blending mode OF THE FILTER ITSELF to normal and change to glow to whatever color you want

The problem with this technique is that the end result is the right type of effect, but on every corner.. not in the same way that is shown on the example website.

Thats why you adjust the height of the content area, by like 150px past both top and bottom edges, this solves the problem
