I'm not a huge fan of Metroid, but that is amazing that you did that with the pen tool, i suck with the pen tool =P
Maybe i should BRUSH up on them..

If you want to write a tutorial, the best way to explain it would be to tell all the steps you take to achieve the effect in question. Look at other tutorials on how the authors compose them. I hope to see it soon, you're amazing with the pen tool.
