Anyways a little help with your background Iysha
Admin CP -> Skinning & Styles -> Manage Style Sheets
Find the folowing line:
BODY { font-family: Verdana, Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; color: #000000; margin:0px 10px 0px 10px; background-color:#FFFFFF }
The part you want to change is background-color: #ffffff;

If you mean intergrate with your website then yes it's possible to do.anyPHPbb has no features and its useless.
What forum software syndrome?
phpBB can do it as well as SMF I believe and they are both free. For instance lets say you wanted the last 5 members that registered on your forum to show on your website, then you would find the db where member names were stored and on your website refer to that db with a script that got the last 5 members added and then output the data.
phpBB is a very good free forum but it had some security issues although with the new release they might have fixed those problems. From what I've heard, no personal experience, SMF is also very good.
