Whelp.....guess this happens to everyone at some point, im in need of a tutorial

Ive seen many sites with VERY cool and detailed metal looking work. a good example of this that i found is this site:

I posted on their forums asking what it was and they said a type of pixel art, but they didnt have a tut for it. So i sifted through over 45 pages of tutorials on Pixel2life and Good-tutorials and found nothing.....

So if anyone has a tut or knows where i can find a tutorial on this technique...please share
