Try reinstalling, if that doesn't work, call Adobe and they'll help

I've experienced the same problem.
ou may have some hdd errors.Try opening an image with PS.Right-click the image , choose open and select PS.That usually does it for me.
If not, try to use TuneUp Utilitlies 2004 and scan your pc for error.

Just a thought, remove all your brushes/plugins/ etc to a safe folder, and try loading PS. If it works after that, move them back one by one until you find the defective one

hey guys, thank you so so so much for your help, really appreciate it, this approach you suggested might have worked but i found a faster way to solve my problem and would like to share it here in case there is anyone who ever gets attacked by the curse of the evaporating ps app.
start photoshop and right when it opens hold down shift+ctrl+alt (you have to be fast) hold down the 3 keys until a box pops up saying like "do you want to get rid of this users settings" or something to that effect...click yes. this will just reset ps like it was when you got it outta the box, but it'll stay open and work...this apparently results after system crashes and errors...well thanks for your help guys and i hope the next person who gets this curse reads this or something similar because it solves the problem
