Right ok start off with a new image
Width: 500px
Height: 500px
Transparent

Grab the fill tool and colour the background black.

Now go
Filter -> Render -> Lens Flare
105mm
131%
Bottom Left

Now go
Filter -> Distort -> Diffuse Glow
Graininess: 0
Glow Amount: 10
Clear Amount: 20

Now go
Filter -> Liquify

Start off with the brush size at about 100
Do 3 Brush Strokes up towards the top right of the image

Now switch the brush size to 25

Start brushing off towards the outside of the image on all sides.

Now click ok to return the result to PhotoShop

You should now have something ike the above

Now press Ctrl + B

Play around with it untill you get something you like

Now go
Filter -> Distort -> Polar Co-ordinates
Rectangular to Polar

Go to
Filter -> Distort -> Twirl
-350*

I'm sorry but this is another Filter's tutorial and I'm sick of them.....Ok so when I started I used filters....a lot and then people thought I rocked but come on it's random! Argh....okay now after my own little rant here's comments on your tut!

I believe the 2nd to last pic looked better than the last so I would've stopped there...also try adding a bit more than filtering - i know you used the smudge tool but it's still not that great - How about instead of generating thast with filter you do it by hand! And then teach us....I belive tutorials are by teaching others what you have and wanted to learn. Not something you elarnt from another tutorial such as filtering because there's no point- your wasting your time as someone else has already written that tutorial!
