Country Specific sites
Thought people might find this to be interesting, it was certainly strange to me how expensive it is for people to have sites in other countries.

For example in Kazakstan purchasing a domain name for 5 years would cost $1440 while in Canada it costs only 17% of that.
Just seems like alot...

Taking a 2nd look anyone who went through that registrar would be nuts, $50 for a .ca domain??? what a joke I have never paid $50 for a .ca
I can get 3 for the price of their one lol they must be making a huge profit of people.

.ca domains aren't worth it in my opinion, you have to register with CIRA and follow their rules

I found that registering with a big place like www.register.com that offers a whole load of domain names and the fact that they are somewhat "local" in a sense seems fair. I have always wanted to own a .de or .dk domain name even though I am USAian (lol) just because it would sound cool as a portfolio address (my personal opinion).
Who would want to buy a domain from Kazakstan anyways? What TLDs exist over there? I sure wouldn't want a business website to end with .kz or whatnot...
Usually, in other countries like that, were technologies that relate to that issue are limited, which in turn cost a buttload of money where as buying a domain name from www.tosdomains.net for example for $8.88 a year for most common tlds in super cheap. Here, (or in the country the buisness and their servers/various technologies reside), the technology is more abundant.
Well, you ask, Why is Register.com so expensive? Well, the technically have the top of the line everything. Plus, they offer TLDs from even god-forsaken places, which in turn would cost more being as they have to work with the local NIC company there that is in charge of that, which also costs money.
When buying a domain name, buy from an american company at all costs. If you have to spend $50 a year for a domain name from Pakistan or Iraq, then do it... but ask your self? Would it be better than a .com? Probably not.
There's my 2 cents.

Its cheaper to buy inside the country you live in or it is for me, everything I buy from the US costs more.

I usually get my domains from my country, however, I find hosting to be cheaper over in the US than in the UK.

Every local computer store here charges 35-50$ canadian for a .com or a .ca... and upwords of $30 per month for 100mb hosting!
Things just cost more to the retailer when not purchased in huge amounts, which is way places like godaddy.com can sell for so little.
I buy all my domains at godaddy.com or tiger-direct-domains.com (cause they take paypal)....

Prices are expensive, but why though? What makes a .uk or .co.uk or .com or .tv or .de domain more expensive?
