www.3dstate.com is a good one. Well, 3D State anyways.

I arn't in the game programming field myself. But will be soon. I have researched this question a bit. I would however, recommend you but the book:

"C++ Game Programming - Black Book"

This, of cause, is if your doing C++ Game Programming. The book comes with a free engine, and tells you how to program one.

Just a thought, you might like to check it out though.

Blitz3D, BlitzMax

those are really good game engines, you can do a lot of things with only few lines of code

there's a development comunity in Codersworkshop that can help you when i get stuck

cheers!

I recommend the Torque Game Engine. Its the one I seem to keep running into during my surfing. Plus a couple game programming books I've flipped through have used it.

3D Game studio is a good one. However Because the "MED(Model Editor)" editor has sum issues. ive been looking around. Tho the WED(Level Editor) does the job nicely

here is a nice big list of engines.
