Recently in the site I published www.trackdownproductions.com I used a bit of my knowledge of photoshop to get a hip-hop feel on the website, but I'm still a beginner in my own eyes, and I'd like some kind of link to a video or just a page explaining all the uses of the basic tools because when reading through some of the tutorials alot of the steps are supposed to be understood before you actually can complete it.....right anywayz. So help a beginner out.
And whats the deal with filling the background with black before you do everything I'd really like an explaination of that.
Thank You

Firstly have you check the tutorials here, and clcik on the categories on the left in the menu for tutorials on those categories, I think the drawing one may be suitable or the basics category would be good ones.
ALso you don't have to have it black if you don't want to I guess it so that they can see what they are doing clearly rather than white or black going to be their actuall background color.

for example, the lensflare filter (filter - render - lensflare), if you put that thing on a white background, it would barely be visible, i dont even know why its actually even visible on a white background...
also, i seen tutorials like the on you want floating around, but there pretty pointles unless you're a complete computer illerate fella. because for example, the text tool, places down text, the gradient tool adds a gradient =O, the color fill tool(you'll be amazed) fills areas with color!
