Go here for some "official" screenshots:

Fact sheet:

Official Announcement:
http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2...staBeta1MA.mspx

looks like a 5 year old made the theme to me on first glance, maybe they have too many coders over designers over at Microsoft lol

HOWEVER, screenies over at this BETA user review look ALOT better:

I think they do it to piss you off, so you end up "hacking" the software, causing people to spend more money.

Moving on from the codenames isn't always so bad, XP was named "Whistler" at first...

Nice! I love the new icons and layout etc! I would of prefered Windows Longhorn to be the name of their new OS, I don't like Windows Vista they don't go together well.

Lets hope this will be better at security!

Now I'm anxious to see how Microsoft fares on this new operating system (thank god for a name change). From what the review says, I cannot wait for it to come out. ;)

I heard it was going to have features such as you can't run software that isn't Microsoft approved? And your computer can be monitored by Microsoft?
Any truth in these?

Anyone know if the first release will be 64bit approved and compatible... I currently hate trying to get xp to work with 64bit considering you need special drivers for like 80% of your stuff. :P

it should just work magically like a hippo with a feather.

I hope it won't be as buggy as XP was when it first came out.

Hippo with a feather? That's as cool as the other side of my pillow.

I'm looking froward to this release as well. We all know it'll be better than ME, because that was "the darkest moment in tech history." But since I need a new computer right about now anyways, it's a good excuse to get a new one. :D
