As some of you have probably read here I am desperately looking for a decent digital camera to take on an upcoming zoo trip, which I'll be able to capture great photos of kids with the animals, etc, and I believe they'll be invaluable to my work.

My question is, how much resolution is enough? I'm looking at both a Kodak DX7440 (4MP) and the DX7630 (6MP). Both cameras are basically the same, one has a lower resolution image sensor, the rest is identical. I can easily make enough extra to be able to buy the DX7440. According to my googling, 4MP is 2272x1704. My question is, is size the only real difference? Both cameras have a very good quality lens, and vibrant color detail.

I'm torn as to which to buy, and I have to purchase one within the next couple days if I want it to get here in time. Any advice is appreciated :)

I would say the 4 megapixels will do you fine.
If you're gonna be using it for design work, it'll do. I've been using my 3.5 MP for a couple of years in my web and general design work and it's been perfect.

I know you like to print off your photos :) , so 4 MP will work well.
