I was wondering if I can somehow make a video material. Because I made a monitor in 3dsmax, and now i want to put a video on the screen.

Ive done everything i can do, and I cant get a material to become a video.

I thought that was for games...so that is programming side. Well can you convert your video to gif instead?

you can just import the video, and skew the movie clip to fit the computer screen, i dont think theres anyway to make the material a video

ahhhh, u can probably accomplish that through composition software such as adobe after affects, and u can still do it with flash, batch render ur seen and import the avi, then as the object moves, tween the movie clip to fit its shape, it will take some doing but im sure u can accomplish some decent results

I think flash is the wrong way to go when it comes to gif. But yea just do something like BeaverElfeater said or convert the video to gif somehow.I suggest Imageready to convert videos.

There's definitely a way of doing it in C4D. You can apply external movies to materials which are then produced frame by frame in your render. Just as you would animate a material...

Don't know much about max though I'm afraid

In C4D you can place a movie into a texture and give it alpha transparency as well...

You load a movie into the "colour" layer of the texture with the correct frame rate and number of frames selected. Then chose "simple" for the "mode" and "Exact Frame" for the "Timing".

Then produce a version of the same movie in black and white, with black for the parts you want to be invisible. Load this movie into the "Alpha" layer of the texture and apply the same settings used for the colour level (Simple, Exact Frame etc).
