Hi ,

I need. Simple help. I am designing one site layout in Photoshop which I am designing in 1024 x 768 file size. If I see it in 1024 then no scroll bars r there becoz the width is same as 1024 or near , but if I see the same design in 800 x 600 it looks ugly with scroll bars

How I can get this done?

Thank you.

Never design a site for a specific resolution. As most users have 800 x 600 screens. This is why most websites are designed in 750 - 790pixels in widtn sp fits nicely on an 800 x 600 screen resolution and doesn't look too small on a 1024 x 768 screen resolution.

The way to makew a site fit on most screens you'll have to make it a fluid layout. which means that depending on the sizze of the browsers window the content will automatically resize, which is the done by measuring widths and postioning in percentages, which this is normally done in CSS.

yes always design your site for 800x600 screen resolutions

if you want to check your site in all different resolutions use this: http://www.webconfs....-resolution.php

Try and make your design work within 770 pixels width.

basically you need to design the site with the fluidity allready planned.

If you are not allready running firefox then i recomend that you do, when it is installign select the developer toolbar and you can view live tables ect on live sites.

use it to look at

www.sangrok.drop-off.co.uk

and
www.lordwilliamsamnesty.co.uk

both thease site are fluid ;)

basically, you need to design a site with the lowest comon denominator in mind, which at the present for srceen size is 800 x 600, it is possible to use a conbination of javascript, PHP, and CSS to produce site which can be ajusted by the user, a good example of such abilities is at http://simplebits.com/ where it is used to provide a button which resizes the page.

as for CSS example, there arnt realy any, other tjhan to use firefox to look at how it is done on site which have it there is really no, "right" way to do it. just imagine, and then play

as for forums and CMS, that is not entirely tru, if you visit the forums at lordwilliamamnesty they infact are fluid, and the whole site runs off of a custom CMS, this fluid ness is also true of site based on the PHPnuke and the PHPPortal CMS.

hope this helps

jammie
