yeah I think I should say, discontinuity, that if you see something you like, but want to see a few things changed, you should pm the person who made it and ask them to try it out. Yes, that would be much appreciated Oh and just noticed, 100th post in this topic, pretty successful contest id say. - Griffin This post has been edited by Griffin: Aug 14 2006, 09:14 PM |

yes
here's the current feedback (top 3 logos + honourable mentions). client has now decided water isn't the way to go - natural/flowers/plants etc definitely are. She said MattyK and Griffin really made the water drop concepts work, they just didn't work for her, and couldn't get away from the slight confusion with a 'hot tub/spa' site. 1. MattyK - post #78 The bottom logo is closest to what the client wants out of everything response so far. The flower says natural, while in the blue and the red the logo does look really good, it gives slightly mixed messages about the nature of the flower (ie. is it a fire-flower? a water-flower?). Fantastic logo - if the competiton was closed now, you'd win it. Really simple, coherent, great colours and good response to feedback. 2. Nothingman - post #73 Logo #5 was a really nice design. The way the colour comes up off the page really worked for her. She'd go for this in green (#3 instead though) if she were to pick it. I think Matty's logo will edge it over the next 10 days, but this is certainly a possibility. Great response to feedback, thinking outside the box got you marks with the client too. 3. Myoto - post #81 Logo #5 and logo #6 both have promise. The client thought that the level of finish was lower than some and that the typography needed work, but was happy that you seemed to have got a 'simple' concept and kept it 'simple' #5 in particular (partly because of the better horizontal use) appealed to her in functional terms, it was a good shape, a good thought, and an elegant layout. She wasn't sure about most of your colour choices though (ie. primary red, lime, cyan etc) 4. Bronya - post #55 You were closest on concept first off. Although it wasn't horizontal and wouldn't have scaled further down, it was clean, simple and elegant. The badge format didn't work, and nor did the fact that the 'icon' was bigger than the text. 5. minus - post #74 Logo #2 was lovely. apart from the use of the photoshop 'brush', it looked almost perfect for a day spa, or site catering to a more mature market. That was the big problem, it isn't young enough. Great logo though! 6. blackhawk_996 - post #58 Logo #2 flowed really well, but the font didn't work for her. She could see why you chose the colours and liked the ideas behind the entwined leaves (and the leaves themselves). She thought you initially overdecorated (Logo #1) and that the flatness of the leaves didn't quite work with the drop-shadowed text and difference in colours. 7. Griffin - posts #2-104 In some ways, this contest has been a two-horse race between you and MattyK. So 7th at this point? What's all that about. The client doesn't feel the logos take a holistic approach enough, they're too much 'text+icon' and not enough 'brand'. You're showing a lot of promise here, but you are capable of the next step up. Ask yourself 'Is it better than my signature?'. I think the main problem is probably your choice of fonts - I'd start with a blank canvas and a new leaf. http://www.bamag.com/email/78dbir-email/ne...269TextType.pdf might help you choose fonts, even if the article is mainly talking about serif typefaces. You're 80-85% there, and many of your logos got mentions for the varying positives from her. Thankyou everyone for your responses - I do understand how frustrating logo design can be, and hope to work with a number of you over the longer term! |

My shot at this:
![]() .EPS and .AI available 2 colors used: PANTONE 366 U and PANTONE 375 U (keeping printing setup in mind) earthy colours, with a fresh touch. I left .co.uk out on purpose, as it's not part of the brand name, it should be communicated in other ways. I could always add it on request. Simply Spa to me sounds like going back to the source, back to your roots (natural products). The growing vine is a good illustration of this. The choice of the lettertype accentuates the vine. #111,#112,#115 (RedDragon, Griffin, MattyK) all really nice.
Griffin, a definite improvement on your earlier work. Will wait for client feedback and then post again NothingMan, some really nice and innovative logos, you have a flair for getting a new look each time you come to canvas. |
