Ok this is nuts... this guy has been working on a digital illustration, 15000! layers.

• The image size is 40 inches by 120 inches.
• The flattened file weighs in at 1.7 Gigabytes.
• It took eleven months (close to 2,000 hours) to create.
• The painting is comprised of close to fifty individual Photoshop files.
• Taking a cumulative total of all the files, the overall image contains over 15,000 layers.
• Over 500 alpha channels were used for various effects.
• Over 250,000 paths make up the multitude of shapes throughout the scene.

Awesome picture too

It was dead earlier it's being dugg out by digg users but you can view by a mirrowed version: http://www.pixpose.com/damen/

11months is a little crazy a photo would be a lot quicker and you would need one powerful PC to run 15,000 layers., he says flattened file weighs in at 1.7 Gigabytes so what's the size of the unflatterned psd. I only know of one person that goes to extreme in PS Layers and that's Starskreem be interested to see what he says on this.

hum... seems absurd to me to go to such a length like that for a single 2d picture.. this guy should really start in 3d at least then he coulda created an entire city block and gotten a bunch of different perspectives of it.. even then 11 months is still absurd for 1 pic.

Honestly what was the point? What a waste of 11 months.

Amazing picture but pointless.

Could of set up a tripod with a SLR and just took a picture, fixed it up in photoshop and put his feet up for 10 months, 4weeks, 6days and 23 hours :)

Agree with Mooey, what a waste of time! How did he get that much free time by the way?
Great result, without any doubts, but in 11 months...

"How you mean you got 3D programs as well?" :)

Got to say the result looks great but I don't think that is worth 11 months of time. The left part really looks like a photo but, as said before, why not just take one.

Even though it's a big waste of time to me, it's great to see what you can do with Photoshop. Next step is Paint!

Waste of time? Guys, he could have just been doing this in his spare time -- an hour here, an hour there. Doing something you like isn't a waste of time.

I find this quite impressive, especially since it is all done in photoshop and illustrator.
