I'm going all-out.
Monitors: 3x 24" HP ZR24W IPS LCD (eyefinity)
Case: Coolermaster ATCS 840 (black)
CPU: 3.06ghz Intel Quad Core i7-950
RAM: 12gb G.Skill RipJaws DDR3 1600
Harddrive(s): Samsung Spinpoint F3 500gb, Samsung Spingpoint F3 1TB
Motherboard: EVGA 141-GT-E770-A1 LGA 1336, with USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s
Video Card: Going to use my current ATI 5770 until the new 6970 comes out in a couple weeks and I see how everything is priced
Now i'm just waiting for the parts to arrive.
Really not looking forward to my next bank statement

I also want to see how gaming is on 3 monitors ... I just need a video card that can push that many pixels.

I had a mini splurge on..
Gigabyte GZ-X1 Silver Midi Tower Case
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHZ 1333FSB 6MB Cache
Zalman CNPS9500-LED Aero Flow CPU Fan
Asus P5QL mobo
2x 2GB DDR2 RAM
WD RE3 320GB 3.5" SATA 300MB/S 7200RPM 16MB Cache (will add to it when need be, considering 1TB goes for about £35 nowadays and is dropping, was in no hurry)
Samsung 22x DVD-RW SATA W/L Scribe Retail
XFX Geforce 8600GT 256MB DDR3 PCIE VGA/VDI TV-O (decent enough for my needs)
Zalman 600W Heatpipe Modular PSU
Runs very nicely. Jealous of the 3 monitors, I used to run two - now only have the one 22" Viewsonic VA2213w

My "splurge" about a year ago was:
ASUS P5P43TD PRO motherboard
3.0ghz Core 2 Duo
4gb Kingston DDR3 1333 ram
Scythe Shuriken Rev. B. Wide Compatibility Low Profile CPU Cooler
Kept a Nvidia 9600 gt, 512mb graphics card from a previous build
Noctua NF-P12 120mm case fan (re-used an old case)
2x 19" Dell monitors
Been working wonders for me. Of course, i spend most of my time programming, which doesn't require any resources. I tried playing Starcraft II a bit when it came out (don't game much on PCs); almost everything was on max and it was running perfectly.
@Matt: I was looking at getting a Zalman for my CPU back in the day, what do you think of it?

Once you go multi-monitor you won't know how you lived without it
And here is a pic of the beast:
Damn, you could multitask like crazy with all those monitors!

Agreed, but i would have a hard time justifying 3 monitors. 90% of the situations i find myself in require only 2. That's not to say that certain professions wouldn't benifit from having 3+ monitors, as i know there are those that do.Once you go multi-monitor you won't know how you lived without it
p.s. Good choice in printer

You know, the geek in me would have to agree with the gamer in you on the issue of 3 monitors. However, that computer has too much hardware for me. I prefer to keep things simple (and quite)
