Hi,

I am new to HTML emails/newsletters. I have research on various sites to find out theories behind what should and shouldn't be done when implementing email campaigns/newsletters. However, it's leaving confused because the articles have different views about how to code emails than others. For example, some articles say you should use inline style and some say you shouldn't.

Does anyone know what is the best practice for coding B2C email campaigns/newsletter without them being classed as spam?

Thanks

Make sure you have all the proper headers.

To - From - CC(if you're using it) - BCC (if you're using it) - Reply-To

Make sure the from email address actually exists. Do your best to make sure the message doesn't have words like 'Viagra' :P

Thanks for the reply guys. However, from the research I've been doing there is a lot more involved than that, from what tags shouldn't be used, when CSS should or shouldn't be used, what size the email campaign/newsletter should be and so on. Like I said, people have different opinions on what is the right way about it.

I guess to find out if the emails work well, HTML email validators can be used but there aren't many that I can find or to know if they are reliable. I have come across one which is www.anandgraves.com.

Does anyone know of any other site where there is a HTML email validator available without having to download software?

thanks for the tool. I am going to try it out. I am also very interested in this. I have a feeling a lot of my email marketing it getting the junk bin. If you don't know if someone is HTML or plain text, which way do you guess? I used to go for plain text, but find that I get more readers on the HTML version, so I an thinking about doing an HTML default with a "Can't see this" bar on the top.

PS: The blog post is broken right now, I would love an updated link. Thanks.
