Hi Everyone,
How much feedback do you want me to give? There are lots of things I like about lots of designs, but nothing is quite there yet. Do you want more direction? More constructive criticism (or just criticism?). I'm not much good at providing encouragement without finding fault - a legacy of my last job possibly! Alternatively, I can show the client the thread and ask for their feedback! let me know what you think John This post has been edited by Discontinuity: Aug 14 2006, 03:22 AM |

That would probably be the best bet imho. As otherwise you're going to end up with about 800 designs to choose from. Myself I have a full layout with the logo I made that I can post somewhere if they would like, but since this was just for the logo I'll leave mine as is.

I would like any form of critisim, just so I know where to go... all I know is sans-serif, fresh natural colors, logo and text that go together well, and spa like. That's what I've been trying (I think it came out perfectly for those specs on the last one)
However, on the sites you asked us to look at, the logos were just boring text. Likely for spacing purposes |

Okay.
This site is a re-launch of www.airandwater.co.uk. It's being completely redesigned, from the ground up (using the same shopping cart software though). So if you want to show off your logo in a screenmock, feel free. The layout will be functionally similar to www.simplyhottubs.co.uk Some of the better industry sites are: http://www.susanciminelli.com/ https://www.eve-taylor.com/Index.aspx http://www.timetospa.co.uk/ http://www.espaonline.com/products/ http://www.silverleafspa.com/products.htm http://www.willowbeautyproducts.co.uk/ http://www.simplysoaps.com/uk/http://www.skinhealthspa.co.uk/ (not great, admittedly) ------------------ I think two of the key things here are: colour schemes Monochromatic or Analogous colours preferred, or use a colour + hue/tint/shade. (look at tertiary colours) Sticking away from primary/secondays colours and complementary/triadic colour schemes will help. Typography and image are king. MattyK, your tree is good (ie. an integral part of the logo) but doesn't say 'spa' enough to me, it says 'blue forest' a more delicate (ie leaf, flower, water drop) emblem would work better for the client. d4rkst0n3, lovely simplicity, colours too heavily saturated but i like that the green and blue sat well together. fonts used in submissions are generally either too masculine or slightly clumsy attempts at femininity - in many ways Bronya's logo achieved a cohesiveness I admired, what it was lacking in shape (dimensions) and typography, it made up in colours (nice loamy tones). MattyK, your cucumber designs were nice, but didn't have enough oomph and were slightly willowy - the tree went too far the other way reflections, images 'around' the text etc simply aren't necessary, some of them are nice decoratively but rarely reinforce a brand. hope this helps! Please do PM me if you want anything cleared up, or use messenger/email in the OP. John. (edited for weird line spacing!) This post has been edited by Discontinuity: Aug 14 2006, 05:47 AM |

Well...If I had read those post earlier Anyways... ![]() i can see you went to a lot of effort with this 1) Fairly Feminine 2) It says 'spa'! 3) It hangs together well 4) It's not a been there, done that logo d4rkst0n3 - you're right about your last logo design, it is nicer I've decided I should give feedback at this point, stops people shooting in the dark. Remember, if I criticise less than five things, I'm fairly happy thanks to all the people who've replied and shown work up so far. |
